3) Install steps (VM/Parallels example)
- Ensure you have a valid Windows license and ArtCAM installer + license.
- Install Parallels Desktop for Mac (or VMware Fusion with appropriate version).
- Create a new Windows VM and allocate sufficient resources: at least 4 CPU cores, 8–16 GB RAM, and enough disk (50+ GB).
- Install Windows and Windows updates, then install Parallels Tools.
- Install ArtCAM inside the Windows VM and apply license/activation per Autodesk instructions.
- Configure VM settings: enable 3D acceleration, assign more RAM/CPUs if performance is poor, map USB/serial ports if using dongle or controller.
- Test CAM toolpath generation and post-processing; for CNC controller connections, ensure passthrough of USB/parallel dongles or use network-based solutions.
