⚠️ Important Note on Version Numbers
With the introduction of Creative Cloud, Adobe changed the file versioning system. The download file is technically named Camera Raw 9.12, but once installed, the internal version number displayed in Photoshop is 9.12.1. This is the correct and final update for the version 9.x architecture.
1. Compatibility with Adobe CS6 (The Perpetual License Owners)
If you refused to move to the Creative Cloud subscription model and still run Adobe Photoshop CS6, you cannot install Camera Raw 10.x or later. Adobe stopped supporting CS6 with new ACR versions after 9.12.1. If you have a new camera (circa late 2016 or early 2017) but an old CS6 workflow, 9.12.1 is your final frontier.
