The Timeless Allure of Champakvan: A Journey Through Old Issues
- Sleeving: Use Mylar or acid-free plastic sleeves for high-value issues. Avoid cheap polythene as it leaches chemicals over time.
- Storage Boxes: Store them flat in acid-free magazine boxes. Do not pack them too tightly, or the spines may crack.
- Environment: Keep them away from direct sunlight (which fades the colorful covers) and high humidity.
- Pests: Old paper attracts silverfish. Place cedar blocks or neem leaves in your storage box to keep insects away.
- Timeline Scroll: A horizontal scroll bar at the top organized by Decade (1970s, 80s, 90s, 2000s).
- Year View: Clicking a decade drills down to a grid of covers for that specific year.
- Search Filters:
- Paper texture: Original issues are on rough, uncoated, brownish newsprint. Fakes use white printer paper.
- Staples: Original staples are rusted or specific gauge size.
- Back cover: Old Champak always had an ad for Lottery Sambad or Dabur Chyawanprash or a subscription form. If the back cover is blank or an ad for a modern product, it is a reprint.
