KESS 2.90 is the latest firmware and software update for the widely used KESS V2 ECU programmer. It is a popular tool among automotive enthusiasts and professional tuners for reading and writing Engine Control Units (ECUs) and Transmission Control Units (TCUs) via the OBDII port. Key Features and Improvements
- Connect GND, VCC, Boot Pin (usually pin 20 or 23).
- Connect Kess probes to the JTAG (D0, D1, CLK, RST).
- Set Kess 2.90 to "Boot" mode.
- Power the ECU.
- Short the boot pin to GND during power-on to force the CPU into serial bootloader mode.
- Release the pin. The Kess will now read/write at the silicon level.

The Ideal Setup:
- Laptop: Windows 7 Professional (32-bit or 64-bit) is the most stable. Windows 10 often works but may require driver signature disabling. Avoid Windows 11.

- Cable: A high-quality USB 2.0 cable. Do not use USB 3.0 hubs.
- Power Supply: For bench mode, you need a stable 13.8V power supply capable of 10-15 Amps.
