Abstract This paper examines the Biblia Latinoamericana (Latin American Bible), specifically the pastoral edition edited by Bernardo Hurault and Ramón Ricciardi. It explores how this translation moved beyond mere linguistic accuracy to become a tool for liberation theology and popular education in Latin America. By analyzing its translation philosophy, extensive commentary notes, and focus on social justice, this paper argues that the Biblia Latinoamericana represents a "contextual translation" that prioritizes the reception of the text by the poor and marginalized over strict adherence to traditional ecclesiastical terminology.
