Create a Macrium Reflect bootable ISO — quick guide
What you need
- Windows PC with Macrium Reflect (Free or paid) installed.
- USB drive (8+ GB) or blank ISO target.
- Administrative rights.
- Burned to a DVD
- Written to a USB using Rufus (if the ISO doesn’t directly write to USB)
- Used in virtualization (VMware, VirtualBox)
To create the ISO, you must have the Macrium Reflect application installed on a functional PC.
To create a Macrium Reflect bootable ISO use the built-in Rescue Media Builder
5. Version Parity
Your rescue media must match the version of Macrium Reflect you used to create the backup. Restoring a Reflect X backup with Reflect 7 rescue media is impossible.
- Click "Browse for an image file" (Usually located on an external USB drive, network share, or second internal drive).
- Select the most recent
.mrimgfile. - Click "Restore Image."
- Select the target disk. (Critical: If restoring to a smaller SSD, ensure you use the "Shrink/Fit to target" option under "Copy partitions.")
- Click "Restore." The software does the rest.
