REPORT: ARK SURVIVAL EVOLVED – SCORCHED EARTH MAP ANALYSIS
Date: October 26, 2023 Subject: Map Overview, Survival Mechanics, and Resource Management Classification: Survival Guide
Heat Waves: Drastically increase temperature; players need Adobe structures or Cactus Broth to survive. map ark scorched earth
Heatwave
The temperature skyrockets past 60°C (140°F). If you are not wearing insulation, you will begin to lose health to hyperthermia rapidly. Your water drains twice as fast. Counter: Calien Soup (makes you resistant to heat), standing in shallow water, or hiding in an adobe house (Adobe is the metal-tier of Scorched Earth, designed for heat insulation). REPORT: ARK SURVIVAL EVOLVED – SCORCHED EARTH MAP
- Tame a Jerboa first (level 3).
- Build Adobe bases, not stone (stone overheats).
- Never leave your base without 2 waterskins and a Cactus Broth.
- Respect the Dunes. If you see the ground rumbling, you have 2 seconds to run.
- Features: Extreme temperature fluctuations (freezing nights, scorching days), frequent sandstorms that reduce visibility to a few feet, and scarce water sources.
- Key Resources: Cactus Sap (harvested from cacti with a pick or hatchet, a primary water source), Sand, Raw Salt, and Oil from occasional shale nodes.
- Creatures: Morellatops (the "camel-saurus," a key water carrier), Jerboas (weather-alert pets), and the terrifying Deathworm that burrows beneath the sand.
- Survival Tip: Never travel the deep dunes without a mount. A Morellatops or a fast raptor is essential to outrun Deathworms. Always carry a tent blueprint for emergency shelter during sandstorms.
- Wood: Kill and harvest Desert Titanoboa or Mantis. Do not chop "trees" (there are few). Use a Chainsaw on cacti in the Badlands for wood.
- Water: You cannot rely on rain (it rarely rains). Build Water Wells (unlocked at level 45) on ground spots. Use Cactus Sap in a cooking pot to make "Cactus Broth" (camouflage) or eat it raw for hydration.
- Clay: Adobe requires Clay. To make Clay: Put Sand (harvested with a pickaxe from rocks) + Cactus Sap + Water into a Mortar and Pestle.
- Silica Pearls: Do not look in the ocean (there is no ocean). Look in the Dunes at night for glowing green pools. Also, kill Lymantria (Moth creatures) for Silica Pearls from their corpses.
Endgame & Strategy Summary
- Prioritize water management, heat protection, and a reliable oil/metal supply.
- Use flying mounts for scouting and high ground for resource runs.
- Build sandstorm-resistant bases near an oasis or defensible plateau.
- Prepare specialized tames for burrowing predators and resource-heavy runs to progress to endgame content and boss encounters.
Ripped from his belt, the tattered hide had vanished into the red eternity. Tame a Jerboa first (level 3)
