Marriott Design Standards Module 14 -
This is a simulated Technical Design Report based on industry standards for global hospitality design. Note: Marriott’s actual MDS (Marriott Design Standards) Module 14 is proprietary and varies by brand (e.g., JW Marriott, Sheraton, Westin, Courtyard). This report reflects the typical content of a “Module 14” focused on Guestroom Corridors & Guestroom Entry (a common high-impact zone in prototype designs).
Religious pluralism defines public life. It is common for a Hindu to visit a temple, a Sikh to pray at a Gurudwara, and a Muslim to offer Namaz, often within the same neighborhood. This intermingling has given rise to a syncretic culture where festivals like Diwali (Hindu), Eid (Muslim), Christmas (Christian), and Vaisakhi (Sikh) are celebrated with cross-community participation. This spiritual saturation creates a lifestyle where materialism is often balanced by a strong undercurrent of fatalism and acceptance of life’s vicissitudes. marriott design standards module 14

Operational Impact
From a procurement and installation standpoint, Module 14 is generally functional but expensive.
– Requirements for automatic sprinkler systems (NFPA 13), water mist systems, and protection for high-risk areas like utility spaces and loading docks. Principle 3: Fire Alarm System
: Requires automatic mechanical smoke exhaust systems in high-rise buildings and atriums to clear smoke within 10 minutes. Standby Power
- Measure static pressure at the farthest guestroom on the highest floor (must be 45-65 psi).
- Run shower, flush toilet, and open lavatory simultaneously. Temperature may not fluctuate more than 3°F.
- Hot water reaches all fixtures within 5 seconds.
- Pressure-assisted toilets for Courtyard, Residence Inn, and above (1.0 GPF average).
- Washdown or dual-flush (1.1/1.6 GPF) for select-service brands like Fairfield Inn or TownePlace Suites.
- Bowl height: 16.5 to 17.5 inches (comfort height) for all ADA rooms.
- Floor mounting vs. wall mounting: Wall-hung toilets are only permitted in premium luxury brands (JW Marriott, EDITION, Ritz-Carlton) with a load rating of 1,000 lbs.
