The Skanda Purana (स्कन्द पुराण) is the largest of the eighteen Mahapuranas, a genre of ancient Hindu religious texts. Named after Skanda (Lord Kartikeya), the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, this scripture is a treasure trove of theology, mythology, geography, and pilgrimage guides (Tirtha).
