The Virar-Alibaug Multimodal Corridor (VAMMC) is a massive 126-km infrastructure project designed to bypass Mumbai’s inner-city traffic and seamlessly connect the Palghar, Thane, and Raigad districts.

Implementation priorities and phasing
Phase 1 (0–4 years): Feasibility, environment clearances, design of Virar–Panvel express segment, initiate priority interchange construction, and pilot ferry integration. Phase 2 (4–8 years): Construct expressway and transit spine Virar–Panvel; build Panvel interchange and ferry terminals. - Virar: Integration with the Western Railway and proposed Metro Line 5 (Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan-Dombivli).
- Bhiwandi: Connection to the Eastern Express Highway and the proposed Mumbai-Nagpur Super Expressway.
- Khalapur: Interchange with the proposed Samara-Khalapur Highway.
