The project is built on the foundation of the BodyParts3D dataset from the Database Center for Life Science in Japan. The Z-Anatomy team has significantly enhanced this data by simplifying meshes (retopologizing) for better performance, adding textures, and organizing over 7,000 anatomical structures into a user-friendly hierarchy.
